The Basic Bible Truth
 
As we go thought life here on this planet, we are to live by God’s rules and standards.  The effect of His Word on our hearts will be life changing.  We will be different than others around us, and noticeably so.  And that godliness is surprisingly attractive to the unsaved world.  Their hard shell may not show it, but deep down inside, the lost individual is searching for fulfillment.

A Torofluxus

My torofluxus has a piece of looped plastic tubing running through the middle of it and allows me to make it spin and rotate.  In full rotation, it looks remarkably like a silvery bubble.  And yet it collapses into a simple ring that looks like multiple loops of steel.
 
The Lesson
 
I grew up with the Slinky brand spring steel toy.  It was an interesting and entertaining idea and a great toy.  I remember getting one for Christmas one year, and spending hours thinking up methods of building stair steps for it to climb down and inclines to travel along.  It was great fun, but had its limits of use.
 
When I first came across the torofluxus, it looked amazing to me.  I was hooked immediately because of how different it was and yet how very simple.  It was a beautiful toy when spinning at high speed, and of course, I bought one.
 
When I finally received my new toy, I played with it for awhile and it was then that it struck me that this simple toy was not much different than a slinky.  Both were made of wound, spring steel, both were at their heart, toys to play with.  And yet, the torofluxus always draws the attention of people around when it comes out.  They are always amazed at it beauty and its uniqueness. 
 
There is also a similarity here between the Christian and the non–Christian.  If you will allow me to draw a comparison this way.  We are all born into this world like slinky toys—tough little toys, somewhat interesting, and maybe even fun to have around.  But suppose that the spring steel of the slinky toy could be repurposed and rewound in a slightly different method and the final result was a torofluxus.  That is essentially what the toy makers did.  The final product is so much more attractive and can be used in ways that the slinky could never have been used.  The sinful nature that we all inherit at birth, needs to be rewound, it needs to be put into a different configuration.  We call it salvation.  God steps into our lives and changes us.  We are referred to as an entirely new creation.  Like a torofluxus, our lives are to be an example to the world and something that catches their interest.  If people were honest with themselves and God, in their heart, the unsaved look at the godly Christian life in envy and with the desire to have that same joy and happiness in their life.
 
Yes, admittedly, the comparison of one toy to another has its limits when comparing the saved and the unsaved.  But I can assure you of this one fact.  I have yet to meet someone who was not completely blown away the first time they see a torofluxus come to life.  And I have yet to see someone in this world that, if totally honest, is not also blown away by the difference that they see in the life of a Christian. 
 
So, I have a very simple question to ask you.  Are you still a slinky?  Wouldn’t you much rather be a torofluxus?  The difference is quite simple.  Jesus.
