Pineapple Story (Putting God First) (Discipleship) (Anger)
In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples. Luke 14:33
The Basic Bible Truth
God demands first place in our lives. That means that we must be willing to set aside all of our desires, all of our wants and wishes, in favor of His. Even in the small things, God wants our attention.
The Object And Lesson
The Pineapple Story
Years ago, a man by the name of Bill Gothard put in place a ministry called “The Institute of Basic Life Principles”. They have a number of very good, Scripture based items available, but this is not intended to be a promotional pitch for them. I came across a story written by a missionary by the name of Otto Koenig that was published by IBLP, and obtained a copy of a video of Mr. Koenig addressing a large group concerning his story. I believe that the video can be seen on YouTube. The video is still available for purchase and well worth a few dollars to hear and watch. Understand, the quality of the recording may not meet movie production standards of today, as it was recorded on video tape originally and then transferred to a digital format. It is an excellent example of how everyday life and Luke 14:33 meet head on. I highly recommend it as simply a “sit back and watch a video” class time. It has a good message that each of us needs to consider about putting God first, what real discipleship looks like and how to deal with anger.
